11g Natural Colombianite "Lightning Stone" 34mm Raw Pseudo Tektite Flat-like Oval from Cauca, Colombia

This extremely rare true medium-size raw Colombianite, traditionally known as Piedra de Rayo ("Stone of Lightning"), is a fascinating pseudo-tektite and approximately 30-million-year-old form of ancient volcanic obsidian glass from Colombia. This piece has an attractive flattened oval shape with abundant natural dimples, crater-like depressions, curved and wormhole-like etchings, plus unusual, slanted line striations across a portion of one side. Several curved markings even resemble small crescent moons. A brownish-tan mineral inclusion is exposed within one of the deeper depressions and continues into the glass, becoming especially interesting when the piece is illuminated from behind. Under strong transmitted light, the normally dark glass becomes surprisingly translucent whitish-clear, revealing its internal texture, inclusions, and markings.
