This extremely rare small-size raw Colombianite, traditionally known as Piedra de Rayo ("Stone of Lightning"), is a fascinating pseudo-tektite and approximately 30-million-year-old form of ancient volcanic obsidian glass from Colombia. This naturally rounded piece has a dark gray to nearly black surface with one somewhat flattened side and abundant dimples, wormhole-like etchings, and a particularly deep curved smile-like indentation. Brownish-tan mineral material appears along portions of the surface and near several dimples, while additional inclusions extend into the glass and become much more visible when illuminated. Under strong transmitted light, this piece becomes translucent whitish-clear and allows you to look directly into its slightly cloudy interior.
