Huge Colombianite Lightning Stone, 113.25g Rare Pseudo Tektite Specimen from Cauca, Colombia 73.3mm

This extremely rare Colombianite, traditionally known as Piedra de Rayo ("Stone of Lightning"), is a massive approximately 30-million-year-old piece of ancient volcanic obsidian glass from Cauca, Colombia. Weighing an impressive 4 ounces and measuring nearly 3 inches long, this is the largest Colombianite specimen in my collection. Its broad dark surface is comparatively smoother in several areas while still displaying an extraordinary variety of natural formations, including deep grooves and indentations, dimples, worm-like tracks, curved "smile"-like depressions, subtle striation lines and numerous crater-like markings. Strong illumination from behind dramatically transforms the nearly black glass to smoky clear and whitish clear translucency, revealing an incredible amount of otherwise hidden surface detail.
