Large Natural Colombianite "Stone of Lightning", 21.87g Rare Raw Pseudo Tektite from Cauca, Colombia 44.8mm

This extremely rare large-size raw Colombianite, traditionally known as Piedra de Rayo ("Stone of Lightning"), is a fascinating pseudo-tektite and approximately 30-million-year-old form of ancient volcanic obsidian glass from Colombia. This one-of-a-kind piece has an especially unusual sculptural shape with deep crescent-shaped grooves, surface striations, natural dimples and etchings, and a prominent approximately 4 mm crater near the center. A few areas expose the smooth, glossy volcanic glass beneath the heavily textured exterior, including one approximately 10 mm area and a smaller approximately 6 mm glassy area, and a few less noticeable tiny areas can be seen during close examination. When illuminated from behind, the dark glass becomes dramatically translucent, ranging from smoky clear under moderate light to remarkably clear under strong illumination.
