Chiastolite Cross Stone Andalusite, 45.5mm Face Polished Crystal Medalian Slice, from California, USA (37.38g)

This beautiful natural Chiastolite, also known as the Cross Stone, is a distinctive variety of Andalusite featuring a remarkably well-defined dark cross formed by natural carbonaceous inclusions, commonly described as graphite. This excellent specimen from the mountains of California, USA, has a rounded, somewhat irregular medallion-like shape with one polished face, a smoothly cut but unpolished reverse, and natural exterior edges. The striking cross extends across the face in four distinct directions and remains visible on the reverse side. Warm brown, tan, and golden tones surround the dark cross, with much of the stone displaying beautiful golden translucency when illuminated from behind. Fine natural striations and subtle silvery mica shimmer can also be seen, particularly around the edges. Its combination of attractive natural patterns, excellent cross definition, and contrasting finishes makes this a wonderful one-of-a-kind collector specimen.
