Polished Septarian Sphere, X-Large 77.7mm, Dragon Stone Crystal Ball, UV Reactive, from Madagascar (668.4g)

This extra-large size 77.7mm fully polished Septarian sphere from Madagascar is an impressive premium-quality specimen with bold classic “Dragon Stone” coloration and an especially wild network of mineral-filled fractures. Large gray limestone sections are surrounded by thick dark brown semi-translucent Aragonite, while extensive golden-yellow crystalline Calcite branches throughout the sphere in sweeping, intersecting veins. From several angles, the Calcite and Aragonite wind between and around the limestone sections in an almost maze-like pattern, creating an incredible amount of natural detail across this substantial 3-inch sphere. Additional white to translucent crystalline areas adds even more variation and depth within the mineral-filled sections.

Septarian is a type of sedimentary concretion formed when internal cracks developed within ancient nodules and were later filled by minerals such as Calcite and Aragonite. Madagascar Septarian is approximately 160 million years old, dating to the Jurassic period. The resulting network of mineral-filled fractures produces the dramatic natural patterns seen throughout each piece.

Please note: A few very small natural indentations approximately 1 mm in size occur within the mineral-filled areas. These are part of the natural formation of the stone and remain visible after polishing.
