Polished Amber Fossil Stone, 20.81g Natural Red & Golden-Yellow, 56mm Elongated Freeform from Sumatra Indonesia

This beautiful large Red Sumatra Amber from Indonesia is an unusually expressive piece, professionally cut and fully hand polished into an elongated freeform shape with softly rounded contours. In normal lighting, the Amber ranges from deep reddish-brown to rich red, accented by prominent golden-yellow areas that give this piece a very different character from most others. Several of its natural inclusions form layered, feather-like patterns along one side, while other golden inclusions and internal structures appear at varying depths throughout the translucent Amber. Natural internal fracturing adds even more dimension to these areas, allowing flashes of gold, amber-yellow, and warmer red tones to emerge as the piece is turned through the light. When illuminated from behind, its appearance changes dramatically, glowing in fiery shades of red, reddish-orange, and brilliant golden yellow while exposing internal details that are much less apparent under ordinary lighting. In natural sunlight, a greenish-blue to almost teal-colored layer can also become visible across the Amber, although this unusual effect is difficult to capture accurately in photographs or video. Under UV light, the piece is highly reactive with brilliant blue fluorescence. Its long, relatively slim profile feels particularly comfortable in the hand, while the high polish gives the surface a smooth, glossy finish. This piece comes from a special batch I personally imported directly from Indonesia approximately 10 years ago and have held onto ever since.

Please note: Because this Amber is translucent, some internal inclusions and natural internal fractures may appear in close-up photographs as lines, cracks, or scratches. Most are internal natural features of the Amber; however, this particular piece also has a few extremely fine surface hairlines and one tiny pinpoint-sized pit that can be felt upon close inspection. These features are very difficult to see without examining the piece closely under direct light and do not detract from its overall smooth, finely polished appearance.
