Pietersite Gemstone Sphere 35.1mm with Red & Gold Chatoyancy + Milky Quartz Inclusions

You will receive the exact Pietersite gemstone sphere shown in the photos. This smaller—but still visually striking—35.1mm sphere weighs approximately 60 grams / 2.12 oz and displays rich fiery golden-yellow chatoyancy layered over deep red, bronze, and darker earthy tones throughout the stone.

Unlike some Pietersite spheres that rely heavily on blue flash or intense directional chatoyancy, this piece stands out for its warm inferno-like appearance and flowing fibrous structure. The reflective movement is more dispersed throughout the sphere, creating a glowing ember effect under shifting light where flashes of gold, orange, bronze, and deep red seem woven together through the material.

Several sections display especially vivid golden-yellow flash that appears almost flame-like in motion, while underlying layers of darker red and reddish-brown tones add depth beneath the brighter reflective fibers. Certain angles reveal strong patches of solid red coloration that stand out boldly against the darker surrounding material, giving the sphere a very warm and dramatic appearance overall.

This sphere also contains abundant visible fibrous amphibole structure along with natural milky quartz inclusions and lighter mineral-filled areas throughout the piece. These inclusions add contrast while helping emphasize the layered movement within the stone. The combination of fiery chatoyancy, fibrous structure, earthy bronze tones, and natural inclusions gives this sphere a very organic storm-like appearance that changes noticeably as it rotates under light.

This is a genuine natural Pietersite sphere that has been carefully shaped and polished to highlight the material’s natural fiber structure, reflective movement, and layered coloration.

Pietersite is often referred to as the “Tempest Stone” because of its chaotic fibrous patterns and storm-like light-play. No two pieces ever display movement exactly the same way, which is part of what makes this material so fascinating to collectors—and one of my personal favorite minerals.

Even at this smaller size, this sphere still has excellent visual presence and produces beautiful fiery movement from multiple angles under shifting light.

True commercial Pietersite is primarily mined in Namibia and China. Based on appearance and material quality, this sphere is most likely Namibian material, though exact mine origin cannot be guaranteed without laboratory testing.
