Pietersite Gemstone Sphere 34mm with Blue, Red & Gold Chatoyancy

You will receive the exact Pietersite gemstone sphere shown in the photos. This smaller 34mm sphere weighs approximately 55.6 grams / 1.96 oz and displays deep steel-blue chatoyancy accented by fiery red, orange, and subtle golden flash throughout the stone.

One of the most striking features of this piece is the dramatic contrast between the darker blue fibrous structure and the bright ember-like flashes that appear under shifting light. Certain areas display intense layered red and orange chatoyancy that almost looks like glowing streaks of fire cutting through the cooler blue body color, while other sections reveal softer bronze and golden highlights hidden deeper within the material.

Several areas contain highly visible fibrous structure with a more layered and directional appearance rather than chaotic swirling movement. The chatoyancy on this sphere tends to appear in broad reflective bands and streaks that shift naturally as the sphere rotates, giving it a very dynamic appearance in person. Under direct lighting, some sections almost seem to glow from within as the red and orange flash moves across the surface.

This sphere also contains natural mineral inclusions, darker matrix areas, and textured fibrous sections throughout the material that add depth and contrast without overpowering the reflective movement. The combination of darker blue tones, fiery flash, and natural structural inclusions gives the sphere a bold but balanced appearance that changes noticeably depending on viewing angle and lighting.

This is a genuine natural Pietersite sphere that has been carefully shaped and polished to highlight the stone’s natural fiber structure, chatoyancy, and reflective movement.

Pietersite is often referred to as the “Tempest Stone” because of its storm-like fibrous patterns and constantly shifting light-play. No two pieces ever display movement exactly the same way, which is part of what makes this material so fascinating to collectors—and one of my personal favorite minerals.

Even at this smaller size, this sphere still has excellent visual presence and displays beautiful reflective movement from multiple angles under shifting light.

True commercial Pietersite is primarily mined in Namibia and China. Based on appearance and material quality, this sphere is most likely Namibian material, though exact mine origin cannot be guaranteed without laboratory testing.
