You will receive the exact Pietersite gemstone sphere shown in the photos. This small—but not tiny—38.7mm sphere weighs approximately 80 grams / 2.82 oz and displays an intense combination of deep blue, fiery red, and bright golden-yellow chatoyancy throughout the stone. Also, it's got many visible Pyrite Inclusions.
One of the most striking features of this piece is the way the colors naturally separate and converge across different areas of the sphere. Certain sections display vivid electric blue fibrous structure with darker storm-like depth beneath the surface, while other areas erupt into brilliant red and golden-yellow flashes that almost resemble glowing embers or molten fire under shifting light.
In several sections, the red and golden-yellow chatoyancy overlap so closely together that the colors appear to merge and separate depending on viewing angle, creating an almost flame-like effect with strong cat’s-eye style movement. Some areas also reveal polished quartz windows that allow a glimpse deeper into the layered internal structure of the material, along with visible pyrite inclusions and additional reflective mineral textures throughout the sphere.
This is a genuine natural Pietersite sphere that has been carefully shaped and polished to highlight the stone’s natural movement, layered structure, and constantly shifting chatoyancy. The combination of strong color contrast, visible depth, and highly reflective golden flash gives this sphere an especially dynamic appearance in person.
Pietersite is often referred to as the “Tempest Stone” because of its chaotic fibrous patterns and storm-like light-play. No two pieces ever display movement exactly the same way, which is part of what makes this material so fascinating to collectors.
Even at this size, the sphere has excellent visual presence and displays strong movement from nearly every angle.
True commercial Pietersite is primarily mined in Namibia and China. Based on appearance and material quality, this sphere is most likely Namibian material, though exact mine origin cannot be guaranteed without laboratory testing.
I do my best to photograph and video each piece as accurately as possible so the colors and appearance closely match what I see in person. Many customers have told me their items looked even better in hand than they expected from the photos alone. You will receive the exact sphere shown—no substitutions, no unwanted surprises. What you see is what you get!
